Privacy Policy

This policy applies to ByteSanctum Tech (bytesanctum.tech).

Draft placeholder — this policy is a starting point and will be reviewed and expanded before launch.

Overview

ByteSanctum Tech is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains what information we collect when you visit bytesanctum.tech, how it is used, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible and do not sell your personal information.

Information we collect

  • Information you provide. When you use our contact or consultation forms we collect the name, email address, and message you submit so we can respond to you. If you create an account, we collect your chosen username, your email address, and any optional profile details you add. Comments or other content you choose to post are stored and displayed as you submit them.
  • Technical information. Our servers may record standard request data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view, for security and to keep the site running reliably.
  • Analytics data. If you consent, we collect aggregated usage information as described below.

Accounts and communications

If you create an account, your credentials are stored securely. We use your email address to verify your account, deliver password-reset links, and send other service notices related to your account, such as moderation or account-standing notifications. If you choose to opt in to our newsletter, your email address is shared with our email-marketing provider solely to deliver that newsletter; you can decline this when you sign up or unsubscribe at any later time.

Votes and engagement

Ratings or votes you cast on articles or comments are linked to your account. To help prevent abuse of this feature, we may also record a hashed, one-way identifier derived from your network address; this identifier is never published or shared, and cannot be used to recover your original address.

Cookies and consent

Non-essential and analytics cookies are disabled by default. On your first visit a consent banner asks whether you agree to analytics and related cookies; nothing beyond what is strictly necessary loads until you accept. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer, which re-opens the consent banner. Separately, we always use a small set of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember saved preferences, such as your appearance and font settings or reader filters, even if you decline analytics cookies.

Analytics and Google Tag Manager

When enabled and only after you consent, ByteSanctum Techuses Google Tag Manager to load analytics tags that help us understand how the site is used in aggregate. These tags run under Google Consent Mode, which is set to denied by default until you accept. Declining leaves the site free of these trackers. Where our forms are protected by reCAPTCHA, Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service also apply.

Site statistics

Independently of the analytics tags above, we keep our own aggregate page-view and time-on-page counts to understand which content is useful. These figures are anonymous and are not tied to an identifiable profile. If you consent to analytics and related cookies, we may also record more detailed per-visitor usage — tied to a network-derived identifier, or to your account if you are signed in — to help us understand return visits and engagement over time.

Embedded content and advertising

Pages on this site may include advertising, newsletter sign-up forms, or other embedded content supplied by us or by third parties. These embeds can set their own cookies or collect information according to their own providers' privacy policies, separate from ours.

Your choices

You can change your cookie and analytics choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer, manage your newsletter and account preferences from your account settings, and request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us below.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries, operate and secure bytesanctum.tech, moderate content submitted by visitors, and — with your consent — improve the site through aggregated analytics. We do not sell your personal information, and we retain it only as long as needed for these purposes.
